Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I create for myself—for the sake of the art, not for recognition. My work is shaped by my trauma, heartbreak, and growing up as a woman in the conservative South. Music is how I reclaim my voice and honor the child I once was—trapped, quiet, and searching for courage. Every song is a love letter to her and to anyone who feels unseen. My art is proof that liberation is possible.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would further amplify the purpose behind my art. I create from a deeply personal place, and my goal is to heal myself and help other find healing through my songs. I am a safe space to feel the full spectrum of human emotion--anger and joy, grief and ecstasy. To share that on a global stage wouldn’t just elevate my career; it would give voice to those who feel unseen, just like I have before and still do sometimes.
What would you do with $50,000?
With $50,000, I would continue to invest in producing and promoting a body of work that gives voice to marginalized experiences—especially those of women from conservative backgrounds like mine. I’d fund music videos, an album, and a visual art series that explore healing, identity, and self-liberation in regards to femininity. I’d also continue building up my community through workshops or events that empower young artists to find their voices and create unapologetically.
