Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I make music from the stories I lived with the poems I wrote. My inspiration is my adoption, grief, rage, rebirth and survival. Amy showed me how to bleed pretty, hozier taught me to bury poetry in soul, and Johnny Cash taught me to speak my truth.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would mark the beginning of something inevitable. I’m sitting on an album I’m recording now, set to release at the end of this year. This festival wouldn’t make my career, it would amplify what’s already building. I’m not waiting to be discovered. I’m coming either way.
What would you do with $50,000?
I’d finish my debut album, turn the visuals I hold inside into cinema, and build a tour that brings it all to life in a wild, intimate, genre-defying experience. I don’t want a spotlight, I want a movement. This is my legacy. 50K would fund the next era and make it happen sooner. If not, I’ll still build it with my bare hands.
