Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My music says it all. “You’ll forever wanna stay in The City that will break your heart” — that’s a lyric from my first single. The city is my muse, through both love and pain. As for my musical influences, my sound blends pop and rock, maybe like Oasis and Coldplay, with subtle hints of my Brazilian roots, from Seu Jorge to Charlie Brown Jr. Still, it’s hard for me to define it exactly. I love country music just as much as pop, rock, and folk, from Jelly Roll
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Hand to my heart, I’ve been a fan of the festival for as long as I can remember. I have so many stories—attending in the rain, listening from outside when I couldn’t afford a ticket. I’ve seen what it does for music, artists, and our community. Calling it a dream doesn’t even cover it. My first two songs were about NYC. To play a stage this big, in the park where I wrote so many songs, would mean everything.
What would you do with $50,000?
Honestly, first, I would ask someone for advice. I have invested so much money in the production of my music and music videos. I would like to continue to express myself through music, further express my artistic identity and continue to make magic happen, like putting a piano in the middle of Central Park for a music video. I know how to be smart about money, and how to maximize my investments by working with people I trust and always doing what I can on my own.
