Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Music has always been central to my life; my mother was a singer and inspired me to try music. My narrative-driven songwriting is influenced by Missy Higgins and Lizzy McAlpine, but I grew up watching powerhouse performers such as Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé. Recently, I've been greatly inspired by the talented musicians that I've had the great pleasure to play alongside and collaborate with. It bonds us in such a unique way, and they inspire me to be better and to grow my range as an artist
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would impact my career in ways that I can't even fathom. To be part of a line-up with such phenomenal artists would be the privilege of a lifetime, and I would just love the opportunity to share my lyrics with people that I think it'd touch. Beyond myself, the ability to share the pure talent of my band would be the pleasure and chance that they deserve.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would use this money to fund a studio-recorded project and compensate my band for the time and dedication that they've given me over the years. My dream would be to fund a small tour throughout the U.S. and visit some cities that I've never been to before and share my music with new audiences. Truly, I can't imagine that I'd use all of these funds in the short term, so I'd just like to provide a better life to those around me and be able to invest in my career in ways I couldn't previously.
