Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Though I'm no doubt "inspired" by the music that always perked my ear up--Withers, Hendrix, Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker--and at the risk of using a word in its own definition: music itself is what inspires me. The way that a song can be a love letter, a protest, a mood, a therapy session... music as the highest universal art form is what keeps calling me back to pick up a guitar.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Obviously taking stage at Global Citizen would be a dream--not just to share the stage with music legends, but also as a chance to be part of a community of like-minded humans who want to heal the world of poverty.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would take my wife to Europe after 18 years of trying to figure out how to afford it, and I'd make some more music. Probably in that order!
