Annie Davidson

I write amazing songs (forgive the blunt), and my sound is soulful and authentic. My songs come through me, and they need to be out there.

Q&A

Who or what is your musical inspiration?

My mother and sister have been huge influences: singing in the kitchen, in the car, around the piano. From there, music of my heroes: Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Christine McVie, Whitney Houston, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman, Rising Appalachia, 4 Non Blondes, Billie Eilish, Brandi Carlile. My own songs are often inspired by an image in nature that translates to the emotional space through lyrics, and the melodies, harmonies, rhythms emerge.

How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?

It would launch me toward where I need to go: to reach people everywhere. My songs are messages I believe I'm meant to share widely. The songs should touch hearts, inspire courage, give love, and share the unspeakable, vital power of music to people who need all those things. My next album is ambitious, and I need support to get it done. I will keep gigging and picking away at recording no matter what happens, but this festival would mean the world for my dreams and sharing gifts.

What would you do with $50,000?

I would use it to work full time to finish my album, launch it, promote it, while I hire an agent and line up a regional tour. $15,000 to complete the album with sound tech Oz Fritz at Ancient Wave Recording Studio in Nevada City, CA. Costs would cover band members, sound tech, recording studio, mixing and mastering, distribution and copyright costs, production of CDs. $5000 to put an agent on retainer. $25,000 to take the band on tour on the West Coast. $5000 to invest working on the next album
