I am a pioneer for African Electronic music in NYC, connecting people through culture, dance & sound—shaping the future of global music.
Thank you for generously supporting AQUTIE in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to empower Global Citizen in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty and create a world where everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Kaytranada inspires me—his unique sound has shaped electronic music, and his influence is heard in many artists today. He really carved out space in the industry for Black and Brown creatives. I’m also inspired by my South African roots; music was a tool for expression and resistance growing up. It’s spiritual, ancestral, and deeply tied to who I am. When I create, I feel grounded—like I’m honoring my culture and walking in my true calling.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be life-changing—not just for me, but for so many young women who rarely see themselves in these spaces. It would be a powerful moment of representation, and I wouldn’t take it for granted. For me, it’s not just about being on stage and showcasing my talent—it’s about community, impact, and giving back.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would dedicate the $50,000 to my musical projects—studio time and promotion to ensure the best outcome. I’d also revamp my event, 'CTRL,' and bring acts from the African continent to showcase their talent. Giving back is important to me; I want to create opportunities for my community and provide chances many haven’t had—without expecting anything in return. We’re stronger together, and I want to support that unity.
