Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I seek the liminal, the forbidden, and the uncomfortable for inspiration. The irritant is my pearl, if you will. Every song that's every been made was born, not from creature comforts, but from the pain of being human. Music itself is an ephemeral co-created experience; to push away the challenges of the environment, rather than to accept the calling to embrace its imperfections, is a loss of opportunity. I have learned to be present wherever I am with my thoughts, and the music will come.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Playing Global Citizen Festival would open up worlds of opportunities for me, and allow me to bridge my greatest passions of environmental, health, and music activism. I have worked with nonprofits and gone to the UN to advocate for these causes. Meeting and connecting with like-minded Global Citizens would definitely further my aspirations!
What would you do with $50,000?
I could finally start a nonprofit to teach music technology to underprivileged children and teens. I could finally release my first professionally-produced EP and invest in my music career. I would buy new equipment. I could tour and build my musical connections and community. I could finally do the promo campaigns I designed.
