Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration stems from growing up in a small town where family and community was paramount. Music was my escape. When I sang my first solo at church at age 5, I felt alive. Music was literally the one thing that kept me safe and sane. Chaka Kahn, Gladys Knight, Lalah Hathaway and many others have influenced my sound. The 90s era of music is where I really gained my voice, ear and knowledge of music. R&B, soul, country, rock, pop….all of it has made me the artist I am today.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Having the opportunity to showcase my gifts on a major platform will allow my music to be introduced to the world. I believe that my message and passion will translate into people’s lives being impacted in a positive way. Highlighting my struggles to show that we can overcome and live.
What would you do with $50,000?
The $50,000 would be put back into expanding my brand and doing more music and live shows.
