Who or what is your musical inspiration?
With all my creative projects, I'm pretty much 'guided' .. Inspirations come naturally to me when I'm experiencing different life events, I turn these sentiments into songs. Through my music, I hope to inspire peace, love and happiness. I love the Beatles, their music is evergreen and respected around the world through generations and generations, how amazing is that! Even though so many artists have done covers of their songs, the Beatles can never be duplicated, it's just impossible.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would affirm my credentials and reinforce my belief that dreams do come true! Since the rise of popularity with K-pop, it has opened many eyes and ears, as well as windows of opportunities for Asian artists. Our gifts are diverse and the world should know about us too, there should be space for all of us. As an American songwriter and recording artist of Singaporean decent, being a part of the Global Citizen Festival would mean the world to me, and to all the Asian artists around the globe!
What would you do with $50,000?
I will donate 10% to Miami Rescue to assist the displaced, and fill their pantry for the upcoming Thanksgiving food drive. Another 10% will be devoted to help children who are passionate about music, gift them music instruments and lessons to spark off their exploration into the arts. With the rest, I will produce my new album 'Love At First Sight,' an album of 12 songs that promote peace, love and happiness, things that the world needs more of. I want to help make the world a better place too!
