Benitez blends his classical roots with original sound design, crafting a sophisticated, retro-futuristic world where Latin American rhythms, funk, and synth-pop collide. Inspired by Juan Gabriel, Daft Punk, Arca, and Almodóvar, he creates from scratch honoring folklore while exploring queerness, identity, and freedom with boldness, humor, and heart. His music reinvents Latinx heritage through emotion, rebellion, and cinematic flair.

Performing at Global Citizen Festival would be a defining moment in my journey as Benitez. My music blends Latin roots, queerness, and retro-futuristic sound design to tell stories of identity, freedom, and resistance. Sharing this on a global stage committed to justice would amplify my voice, connect me with wider audiences, and affirm that art grounded in vulnerability and culture can be a force for meaningful change.
What would you do with $50,000?
If I win the $50K prize, I’ll create performances that merge both sides of my craft classical and electronic into a powerful, immersive experience. I want to tell visual and musical stories that awaken simple human emotions we often forget: joy, nostalgia, tenderness, rebellion. I’d invest in producing a full audiovisual project, collaborating with underrepresented artists, and sharing this vision of Latinx futurism, queerness, and cultural memory on global stages.
