Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Nature is my biggest source of inspiration. When I’m by a body of water, or caring for one of my houseplants (I wrote a song about one: “Marble Queen”), it feels like my body and mind experience a state of homeostasis that open the gates for creativity. Alongside that, my background in psychology steers me towards writing about introspection, and the personal development I’ve experienced or see ahead of me. How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Not only would this opportunity help me reach a wider audience to share my art, it also aligns me closer with the reason I feel inspired to create in the first place. Being a part of an initiative like Global Citizen reflects the humanitarian work I’ve done outside of my music career too. Combining my passion for helping others and creating music is the most fulfilling path I could ask for. I want to inspire others to heal themselves so they may show up fully for others too.
What would you do with $50,000?
Music is a vehicle for change. My goal is to open a center for youth that allows them to explore themselves in the context of art and music. I imagine this facility having group or individual sessions where participants can process verbally whatever they may be experiencing, while also separately learning the techniques to apply those emotions & experiences to creating original music — like a one-stop that combines therapeutic settings with education and mentorship.
