Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My dad was my biggest musical inspiration. He was close with John Lee Hooker, and I grew up watching him perform around California—seeing his joy on stage lit a fire in me. My mom also shaped me as a songwriter; she’d sing us beautiful songs she wrote herself. Between the two of them, I learned the power of performance and honest storytelling. Their love for music gave me mine.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be the ultimate victory for me. After everything I’ve endured these past 5 years, it would prove that perseverance pays off. I’ve heard people say I’m too old to chase a dream—but this moment would show the world it’s never too late. Dreams don’t expire when you keep pursuing them—they evolve, they grow, and they last forever.
What would you do with $50,000?
With $50,000, I’d invest back into myself—collaborating with writers and producers I’ve always dreamed of working with to reach new creative heights. I’d also pay off my car to ease financial stress, and most importantly, I’d honor my mother by finally giving her the tombstone she never received.
