I make Afrobeats here in the US so I believe people will connect better with African sounds through my rhythm, storytelling, and melodies.
Thank you for generously supporting Boy Rae in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to empower Global Citizen in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty and create a world where everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Basically, I write what I’m feeling at the moment whether there’s a beat or not, as long as I’m telling a story. I listen to a lot of artists but my main inspirations are from Ckay, The Kid Laroi, Rema, and Polo G.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival will be a big boost to my career as my plan from the jump is to make the African sound global. I’m a young artist from Nigeria in Alabama where it’s mostly Sexyy redd or Glorilla or something of that nature. My music is a totally different sound as it will, for sure, make you start moving even if you don’t understand what I’m saying due to language.
What would you do with $50,000?
I know everyone will say “I’ll invest in music” and all that but not only will I invest in my music, I’ll also invest in myself. With that I mean my aesthetic, my branding, marketing, management, etc
