Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Before diving deep into the SynthWave vibes of '80s-inspired tech noir, we backed up artists from all over the map—from Austin art-rock royalty '…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead' to the electronic pioneer and producer 'Moby'. Fueled by Austin's endless creative energy and our love for its deep-rooted live music scene, we invite listeners on a sonic journey where nostalgia meets futurism, and old-school melodies collide with a new wave of sound.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Like the Global Citizen Festival, we believe in music with a purpose that helps people make the world a better place. If we played this amazing festival, we would use our increased visibility to raise awareness of our two greatest passions: 1) Reducing the wealth gap, which continues to lead to catastrophic poverty for millions across the world, and 2) The importance of accessible music education and it's ability to improve people's lives and build stronger communities.
What would you do with $50,000?
We would invest the $50,000 back into the Austin community. Specifically, we would donate to Austin SoundWaves, an arts education nonprofit that makes learning music accessible and equitable. Based on the successes of El Sistema (where the famous conductor Dudamel came from), SoundWaves works to lift children out of poverty by instilling values that improve academic performance and enhance social well-being through free and accessible music education.
