Who or what is your musical inspiration?
As a Pasadena native, Sunday nights served a diet of Dr. Demento. I feasted on funny songs by Allan Sherman and Tom Lehrer. Weird Al taught me to “Eat it,” while Arlo Guthrie served “Alice’s Restaurant,” I hope to follow Pasadena greats like David Lee Roth and Dread Zeppelin. Rock influences include Syd Barrett and, the spin-off band, Pink Floyd. For dessert I’ll take Garth and Mel Brooks, Cole Porter, Buffet, Dylan, R. Rainbow, and the great Tim Minchin.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
The Global Citizen Festival is a far stretch from my stints of bar nights and subway busking. I hope that once a larger crowd gets to see and enjoy my “Morning Wood,” they’ll be clamoring for the rest of my body of work. This journey will help me set a new course in my career as I sail towards a world tour.
What would you do with $50,000?
With fifty Grand I could professionally record my very first album titled “A Taste of Tim,” and with the $48,513 left over, I’ll rebuild my ships engines, sail up the Hudson, and still have enough for a down-payment towards property to launch an artists’ collective and studio somewhere near Woodstock.
