Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My mother was an opera singer and is currently teaching choir. Growing up as an autistic musician, she gave me access to this incredible world. I am shaped by growing up listening to her teach voice lessons in the house and hearing her practice herself. My mental health is also a huge part of my identity as a musician. I want to create music that other people can relate to and know that they are not alone.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Being able to reach people who struggle is the ultimate goal. Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would allow me to reach so many more people and let them know they are not alone. Whether it's a young girl going through a depressive episode or an autistic adult trying to get through their day at work, performing at the Global Citizen Festival would allow me to reach those who need to hear my music the most.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would spend most of the $50,000 on donations to New York City's suicide awareness and prevention nonprofit. As someone who has survived an attempt, it is so important that they get the funds they need to help others like me.
