Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Chicago, my love for creativity, & hip hop culture inspire me. My 1st album had a battle rap/underground style influenced by artists like Aesop Rock, RTJ, & Lupe Fiasco. The new album is darker with a more modern sound, inspired by artists like Kendrick, Mac Miller, Nipsey, and Tyler the Creator. My struggles with mental health inspired me to write about those experiences and how I overcame it, so that I can promote awareness and help others with similar issues to remind them they're not
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This would be everything for me. Having an audience of that caliber would be an incredible opportunity to tell my story and celebrate music with people who love and understand art! Especially considering their selfless cause and passion for ending poverty, which is extremely important to me. When I first started making music professionally, I created a vision board and on it I drew a picture of performing in front of a massive crowd like this. This would fulfill that vision and dream.
What would you do with $50,000?
The money would be great, but in all honesty, the opportunity to perform on that platform in itself is much more important to me. The money and the performance could help launch my music career to greater heights. I could lock some gigs and expand my audience. Which in turn would obviously lead to the financial ability to donate to mental health and poverty causes that are dear to me. And of course, help me and my lovely wife live a more comfortable life.
