I have a unique blend of influences, pairing fluttery, sweet vocals with rock, flamenco, and jazz instrumentation.

I can’t point to any single artist for inspiration. It would have to be an even mix of C. Tangana, Jeff Buckley, Tamino, and Radiohead. Each of these artists expanded my idea of what a song could be, what a song could say, and how a song could be sung. Lyrically, I’m continually inspired by these artists, as well as poets like Rilke, Aiken, Roethke, Gibran, and Cohen.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would offer an incredible opportunity to expose my music to a large audience. More than anything, I want to be able to record the album I’ve been writing for the last several years, a concept album called Sweet Dreams Turn Sour. I’m hoping that this exposure would give me the reach to acquire the resources to see that vision come to life.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would record a few high quality singles to support the aforementioned album I’m writing, Sweet Dreams Turn Sour. I would also create a music video for my song The Turn of the Wheel, which is a flamenco-inspired, indie epic. This song inhabits a cinematic space in my mind, the harsh realities of Michigan winter forcing a confrontation with self and a series of poor decisions. It would be a dream to be able to externalize this scene to the screen.
