Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I, like most musicians have my influences; such as Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan, (I got an old soul), but my main musical influence is and will always be my mother. She was never famous, but she was known in Oklahoma City as a music teacher, choir director, composer, and music minister. She influenced me to be who I am today. She gave me the confidence to step on any stage, and perform. I miss her everyday, and hope she is proud of me when she sees me perform from heaven.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Being in a small market, it is difficult to be seen unlike in larger areas, such as New York, or L.A. It would be a dream to be able to take the stage and show the world that talent exists where we come from, all we need is a chance and a stage to show what we are made of.
What would you do with $50,000?
I have a dream of starting a musical where I live. My family has a non-profit organization called "Bring Back the Music", where we teach children age 8yrs -12yrs old how to sing and play instruments, but I want to expand that and turn it into a school for the performing arts, and name it after my mother, to further her legacy and continue to help kids who might not get a chance to experience the joy of music learn and gain confidence through performance like I did.
