Nature. Justice. Other art forms. And so many musicians. Joni Mitchell, Nueva canción (artists like Violeta Parra, Silvio Rodríguez…). Pura Fe, Iris Dement, Sandy Denny, Lila Downs, Rhiannon Giddens, June and Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, Abby Lincoln, Edson Velandia, Laurie Anderson…
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would bring my music to a much larger audience. And perhaps lead to touring opportunities with a band beside me.
What would you do with $50,000?
I’d donate to peace in Gaza, and to indigenous communities on the frontlines of environmental movements - I have a few in mind. I’d keep a little to buy a Bose traveling musician sound system.
