Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I have A LOT. For my first album that I made, there was a heavy Coldplay influence, whereas With Devotion took a more alt folk route with artists like Noah Kahan, Hozier, and John Mayer. Right now, I’m very inspired by shoegaze rock, ever since I found Ethel Cain’s cover of For Sure. Still, the artists I love, such as Radiohead, The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Beatles, Kings of Leon, Bon Iver, and many more have a deep influence I see while writing and producing.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would change everything. I live in a small town with less than 5,000 people where there is no chance for exposure, except for TikTok, but that even feels useless when the algorithm is so odd. I will be moving to a bigger city in the future for that extra exposure, but it’s quite difficult to do so off a minimum wage. This would help me put my name, my album, and my desire to be something bigger out into the world and hopefully give my career the push it needs.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would try and invest it back into my music. That might be dumb seeing how I just talked about the need to move out, but I would try and get some help from other producers on the current songs I’m working on to release and advertise them like crazy. It’s my love, and it would be SO awesome to have a truly professional mix of my own music. Plus, it would (hopefully) give me even more exposure :)
