Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I grew up in the country with parents that were raised on country radio, while having the local country station burned into the dash in my first truck. The rest of middle(in Nebraska you can drive to and from school at 14) and high school was Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Eminem, My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, and Lil Wayne on repeat. I’ve always been moved by words and my ear for music reflects that.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
New friends, new environment, new faces and a new found love for New York(I’ve never been and frankly the thought of a city that big kind of scares the shit out of me). I’d look forward to the opportunities to network with people in a realm of the industry I’m unfamiliar with, as well as hearing and making music that’s outside of my wheelhouse.
What would you do with $50,000?
Mama and I are going to Italy first class round trip. Just kidding, I’d use it to fund and promote my next record the way I want to be. At the end of the day, the goal is to make the best music and share it with people. $50k is plenty to make that happen. After that, buy a van and hit the road. After that makes me rich and famous, the first thing I’m doing is buying Mama and I’s plane tickets.
