Who will perform at the Global Citizen Festival, appear in Rolling Stone, and take home $50,000?
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My biggest inspiration for music is the band The Dear Hunter. Their complex musicality across all of their albums has made me think “I bet I could write something like that”. Ever since I discovered them in 2021, I have developed my own stories that I have turned into musical pieces. My ultimate goal for my musical career is to grow an audience similar in size to that of The Dear Hunter’s. With that kind of audience, I would be able to show my love for music to thousands.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be an enormous step in my musical journey. This kind of opportunity would kickstart my career like no other, as I just want to put my music into the hands of as many listeners as possible. Posting on the internet, getting small gigs, and handing out home-burned Demo CDs can only get me so far. Although I understand my chances of performing are slim, the notion that it’s possible is enough to keep me going.
What would you do with $50,000?
Most, if not all, of the $50,000 would be put toward paying for my college education, as I am planning to attend Portland State University in the fall of 2025. I will be working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Sonic Arts and Music Production, and minoring in music. Being able to go to college for what I want to do, almost entirely paid for, would be an immense relief for me and my family. Any extra money would be put toward new music gear, like instruments and production equipment.
