Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration is artists that have been able to tell a story, put their pain into the music and alchemize. Creating healing with their words and Melodies. Artists like City High, Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, and many others from an array of genres. Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Pop, Alternative, and especially Hip-Hop.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This will be an exciting opportunity to affirm for myself what it means to stay ready. It will be a propeller in my career, exposing my unique style of music to thousands of people that didn’t know they desired music like mine. Music that embraces all nuances of sounds and puts healing into the music while tapping into the melody’s and cadences we all enjoy hearing.
What would you do with $50,000?
With $50000 I will come out with projects using songs that I have had in the vault for 5+ years. I will cultivate the Star Map that I have been developing for a few years now. Highlighting holistic businesses in the tri-state area. Basically a modern day green book for a piece of the east coast because there are so many boots on the ground, doing the work that deserve recognition including my wellness centered, community based, creative platform here in NYC. Investing in healing the community.
