Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The most important artist for my musical inspiration is Ella Fitzgerald. From the first time I sang, “Blues Skies” in 4th grade chorus, I have been meticulously studying her musical career and impact. I also enjoy Erykah Badu, Nina Simone, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Ari Lennox, WILLOW, Masego, Sir, Natalia Lafourcade, Laura Itandehui and many others.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This would be my first opportunity to share my music on a bigger level which would bring me more exposure. However, being able to network with others, perform for others, and connect with a new crowd would fulfill me in a way I have been longing for forever.
What would you do with $50,000?
My parents are seniors and I would help them in whatever way I possible can. I also have dreams of being able to give back to my community in whatever way I can whether that be through the homeless, a children’s program, or any music education related opportunity because many students go their whole lives without a substantial music education. I would also use some of the money to create a new project and record a music video of quality for my supporters and to elevate my artist game.
