Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My love of music, melodies and song lyrics led me to create lyrics of my own. I am inspired by the people who were my role models; including my parents, uncles, and aunts, my community and New York City. Growing up in South Jamaica Queens, New York my neighborhood is a hotbed for talent home to groups like Onyx, The Lost Boyz. I am inspired to share a unique perspective not often heard in popular music. Music can convey a wide range of emotions and ideas so I don't limit what I can create
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I would be able to reach a broader audience and perform in my hometown NYC, while also performing for the world. I have called myself a Global Citizen before I was aware of the festival that shares the same name. I believe music can be a bridge to close some of the gaps in society. I know that I can entertain, educate and connect with the citizens. If I am given the opportunity I will be a proper representation of real hip hop based on introspective lyrics accompanied by great beats.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would use the money to continue to invest in my music career. I would buy studio equipment, get a new computer and buy video edition software. I could budget for music videos, marketing and promotion. I might use a portion of it to put towards a gently used vehicle, or other investment. I would also use it to further educate myself on how to operate as an independent artist acting as my own record label Do For Self Entertainment.
