Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I see myself in Beyoncé. Not only is she a vocal powerhouse but she also stands for a lot of the things I believe in. The way she portrays herself exudes excellence and I can’t wait to show the world all the things I have to offer.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It’ll open up my music to more fans. The meaning behind my name “Dezya” is that I desire music. I desire my songs to be heard worldwide. I’ll be fulfilled once I’m about to do that. I make much that everyone, old or young can relate to. I believe that’s what sets me apart from others. Although, I do hope to change my artist name in the future, Dezya relates to who I am currently.
What would you do with $50,000?
Make a better life for my family and I. As an immigrant struggling to make ends meet while also pursuing music, I feel torn between my personal life and my dreams. The money would not only fund my music career but also my education and help take the weight off my parents shoulders. I also plan on donating the rest to those who need it as well, that’s what my parent would want me to do.
