Who or what is your musical inspiration?
This project was inspired by an instrument, the guitar. I have been playing guitar since I was 12, my parents bought me a Squire Telecaster with double humbuckers. I grew up listening to classic rock, funk and motown with my dad.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I've been a performer since college and have toured on the West coast before as a opener and closer for major acts in the Dance music scene. An artist's career for live performance is all about generating heat, gaining fans and getting folks excited for a new sound. I know exactly why the prize is what it is, it's a major opportunity for a hard-working artist to jump start that flame and start a run that could go anywhere. Thus your next question.
What would you do with $50,000?
What would I do? I'd break this down into a budget for a single release. $5,000 would go to finding a vocalist who has traction and is a local New Yorker for a track called "Brooklyn Girl". Another $10,000 would be set aside for business expenses and equipment. $20,000 would go into a geo targeted digital marketing campaign for the single release and $15,000 to a launch party somewhere in Manhattan/Brooklyn.
