Who or what is your musical inspiration?
As a ’70s Latina baby, I grew up on disco, Latin, rock, and house. Icons like Donna Summer, La Fania All Stars, Madonna, and Proyecto Uno shaped my sound. Today, artists like FKA Twigs, Janelle Monáe, Calvin Harris, and Block & Crown keep me evolving. As DJ Musicat, I blend roots and now to create spaces where people feel seen, connected, and free. It’s never just about the beat, it’s about lasting vibes and real connection.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at Global Citizen would be a turning point. More than exposure, it’s a chance to amplify purpose through music and connection. At 54, I believe bold dreams, passion, culture, and stories that matter don’t expire, they grow, and they deserve the spotlight.
What would you do with $50,000?
In these challenging times, I would use the $50K to unite generations of DJs by creating a space to teach my craft and mentor at-risk youth. My goal is to spark new dreams, amplify unheard voices, and create real change through creativity, connection, and mentorship. This is about legacy, rhythm, culture and giving the next generation a reason to believe.
