Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration is Pharrell. Pharrell is the most well rounded artist I know of. He has managed to stay true to himself, while standing the test of time. He is always learning and growing, despite how much he has achieved. From scoring movies, to producing records, he always approaches things differently. Lastly, by remaining humble and creating opportunities for others, he is a perfect example of what a global citizen Should be.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This would be a great opportunity as Global Citizen Festival is a huge stage. Performing there would reaffirm my musical path. I also would be able to bring awareness on poverty in my homeland of Jamaica, and put it back on the musical world stage.
What would you do with $50,000?
Money isn't the destination, but you certainly need it to get on the subway. That being said, I'd of course put away a portion to fund my next EP. However, more importantly, I'd put away a portion to start a non-profit, with the goal of supporting local artists in Jamaica. I will do so by providing them with studio time, instruments, and more importantly, educational workshops to teach about the business/infrastructure of modern music. That education will last them a lifetime.
