Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My high school teacher, Rayoul Zayas, was one of my biggest musical inspirations. He had long hair, played guitar, and gigged in a cover band every weekend. But it wasn’t really about his music or talent — it was his attitude toward art and life that stuck with me. He found a balance: a way to have a family, a steady job, and still make the music he loved. That showed me what a "life in music" could actually look like. We're still in touch to this day.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Playing Global Citizen would be a huge opportunity to entertain a new audience. I’m proud of the music and visuals I’m putting out, but it’s been hard to reach a bigger crowd. My live show’s ready — it’s immersive, bold, and designed for a bigger stage. I just want more people to experience it.
What would you do with $50,000?
I live in a DIY music and art space called Unit J (www.UnitJBushwick.com), where we’ve hosted hundreds of shows over the past decade. It’s amazing to see people come through and leave inspired. I’d use the $50,000 to improve the space and the quality of the shows we put on — and put a few bucks behind a PR and social campaign for my upcoming album. :)
