Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My biggest inspiration has always been my dad — he taught me to play guitar when I was a kid, and it sparked everything. A few years ago, he suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which has been incredibly hard. More recently, I lost my brother to suicide. That kind of grief is impossible to put into words, but music has been my way of coping, with the pain. How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Festival would be one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that’s worth the risk. I sing because it brings something real to people — whether it’s a smile or a feeling they needed to hear. To share that with a crowd of this size would be an incredible honor.
What would you do with $50,000?
The first thing I’d do is take my mum to Scotland. After losing my dad and brother, she’s been through so much, and I’d love to give her something beautiful that brings light back into her life. I’d also donate to causes that mean a lot to me: mental health support and Greta Thunberg’s climate efforts. And finally, I’d invest in something that brings me joy: music. I’d get a new guitar, a ukulele, and maybe even learn the saxophone — something I&am
