Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Emotion, emotion, emotion. People need a way to feel seen with increasingly complex and subtle emotional experiences in modern life. Every one of those experiences is something I try to write toward. In that sense, everyone I meet and everywhere I go ends up as inspo. Strictly speaking of other artists, I think artists who make you wonder, “How on earth did they think of this?” resonate powerfully with me: Yanni, Tycho, Sigur Ros, Roosevelt, Daft Punk, Warpaint, The Fall of Troy, Aph
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This festival would be the most powerful opportunity I can think of to reach a new audience for my music. It would set a tone for the next phase of my career and the art that would accompany it, both musically and visually. The challenge alone of delivering the best performance possible would be a welcome driving force.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would throw my own small festival in my hometown, highlighting local artists who I believe are making great music, and ideally showing other folks how a good creative vision can really come to life. I think so many festivals get greedy and miss the mark, but this event would be gorgeous and splendid to attend for everyone. It would also be priced fairly, so everyone could attend.
