Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I was raised in a jazz musician's home. My mother, was the leader of many jazz orchestras, and combos throughout my life. She is my inspiration. Class, elegance, a heart of gold, and a voice to match. I have always admired her poise, and she has encouraged me to continue my journey as a vocalist and musician. My genre is not the same as hers, but my passion for singing is just as strong.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I believe music is the vehicle that changes people, inspires people and lifts people up. One song at a time, one show at a time, one city, state and country at a time. It is the great communicator that all hearts and minds can connect with, no matter what lingua.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would invest some of the money in music programs for kids in underprivileged areas of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. I would also dedicate what ever is left to recording my album, and promoting music projects I'm involved in. Yes! That would be great.
