Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, and The White Stripes are the biggest inspirations for my sound. My guitar work is heavily influenced by Jack White and Dan Auerbach who just shred their guitars with so much flow. Bass guitar was the first instrument that I learned because I was just in love with Flea's groove and had to be able to play like that. I hope my own music can honor the inspiration I've gotten from their amazing talent. My drums are inspired by my brothers, who are my rock.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be my first ever big performance, beyond just showing my friends and quietly releasing music on the side as I pursued my Master's degree in psychology and spent this last year teaching psych and statistics classes at Northern Arizona University. The festival would give me a chance to show the world my own take on rock and roll.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would use the money to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend and pay for the wedding. I'd also want to set some aside to buy more gear and fix up my car. If you've listened to "Headlights in My Eyes" then you'll know that the crack in my windshield has been getting wide (for the past two years oops) and I really need to get that bitch replaced. But, honestly, I just think it would be cool if people liked my music, I didn't even realize there was a cash prize when I first signed up
