As a DJ, I believe it isn’t about being a “hitmaker” rather, it’s creating a community of people and bringing them together as one.
Thank you for generously supporting Gabriel Zarate in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to empower Global Citizen in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty and create a world where everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
In terms of musical inspiration, Tyler the Creator comes to mind. His methods in staying true to his craft and conveying it through countless layers of instruments and wordplay is what spiked my interest in crafting my own path in music, in djing. Other musical inspirations also range from Stevie wonder and Earl Sweatshirt.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be an eye opener for me in many levels that I can’t explain. As much as I love to dance and listen to the music I love, sharing the energy amongst people who love the same would be beautiful to see.
What would you do with $50,000?
With the $50k I would invest into leveling my equipment for a better experience for not only myself, but for those who I’m performing for. I would also use some of the assets to build a community and push the DJ agenda further than its current state. Not to say it’s at a bad spot, the potential is endless nonetheless.
