Who or what is your musical inspiration?
There are a variety of amazing artists that inspire me like Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Outkast, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, Biggie, 2Pac, and of course Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. I think of my music as Soul Music with a twist because every song I write comes from my soul. When you listen to my lyrics it's my hope that it resonates and passes on that inspirational torch that was sparked by so many that have gone before me.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at Global Citizen Festival would give me the opportunity to reach more people! I just want to spread a message of love and hope in times where we may be looking for more light and to know that we are not alone no matter what it looks like. I believe this festival would expand my career and take me to the next level and I'm excited about that but also, I'm excited about connecting with more people who love great music!!
What would you do with $50,000?
First, I would make sure I have a stable home. I currently live with family and it hasn't been easy. I would pay up my rent for a year in a new apartment, put some behind this new music and film project I'm working on and then save the rest. I have been super focused on my work and sharing in community with others, so this money and performance would give me a bigger platform to do just that.
