Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Inspiration for me are artists who are poetic, multifaceted, and pioneers. Jill Scott is my first love, Erykah Badu, Ari Lennox, India Arie, and Josephine Baker.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Global Citizen Fest gives me an opportunity to reach masses, it provides room to operate more freely on stage. I see amazing networking opportunities and the flourishing of projects that had been delayed due to adversity. I'll have more resources to birth my passions and ideas from a more consistently fertile place.
What would you do with $50,000?
With $50,000, I'd secure all licensing and patents on all future and present work. Set aside a budget for my new album(visuals, studio time, costume, photography, location). I have also curated a organization known as Brown Sugar Roc here in Rochester NY to celebrate and preserve the the culture of Soul and Hip Hop in our city. It is where we host panels, showcases, and create space for youth to share their gifts. A portion would go into savings for festival funding.
