Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I love the trailblazers, the gender benders, the queerdos. Annie Lennox, Tracy Chapman, KD Lang, Mary Lambert, Ma Rainey and so many more have influenced me. In the end, I believe in music's power to heal and connect us, and their music has been a balm for my soul.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I can't even fathom that I am even in the running for this. Is this really happening? Performing at the Global Citizen Festival wouldn't just impact my career, it would mean that everything I have worked for my whole life, everything I have sacrificed, was all worth it. Most of all, I want my kids to see me up on that stage, doing the thing I love more than anything in the world. That would mean everything to me.
What would you do with $50,000?
Record music, make music videos, play shows, and most of all live the dream!
