Who or what is your musical inspiration?
While I am into wide array of music, I love any genre that is infused with some kind of soul. Soul/Rock, Soul/Pop and Soul/Country. I love Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, Pink, Lenny Kravitz, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Gil Scott Heron, The Winans, The Clark Sisters, Creed, Pink Floyd, The Dixie Chicks, Little Dragon, Jill Scott, Me’Shell Ndegeocello, Otis Redding, The Doors, Tweet, Amy Winehouse, The Spinners, Solange, Thundercat, Take 6 and so many more...
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at Global Citizen would give me the experience as a performer on a scale that I have always dreamed of. I would be proving something to myself. I have performed in Detroit for years, my biggest audience was about 1,000 people while opening for Martha Reeves. Performing here would be the biggest moment in my life as a performer so far. I have been working towards this my whole life. It would be the fruition of over 30 years of working towards being a standout performer onstage.
What would you do with $50,000?
$50,000 would allow me to record and release my first full length album with accompanying visuals and also allow me to be able to have a live band to perform with which is something that is very important to me. While I have a couple of albums that I have conceptualized and recorded, releasing a full length album with said accompanying visuals is something that I have just not been able to pull off financially yet. THis money would change that. I have the ideas and materials ready.
