Who or what is your musical inspiration?
People and America inspire me. Every person represents the heart, soul, tragedy, and triumph of the human condition. Songs about emotion resonate with people. The history and trajectory of America is a powerful collection of stories that I tell with my theme albums, like the Dust Bowl, Appalachia, and the Mississippi River, and more albums are planned.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would expose my music to more people than ever before, and help me to continue my mission of making more critically-acclaimed AMERICAN STORIES theme albums.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would make more AMERICAN STORIES theme albums, of course! Recording great music is expensive, and promoting it is even more so. Each of these albums requires several years of research, travel, and writing. It all costs money, and streaming royalties don't pay for much of it.
