Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The people who have inspired me musically are spread out globally and belong to different genres. Steel Pulse taught me the value of the bass and how reggae changed music, FKA Twigs and her fluid creativity remind me to keep experimenting and Nina Simone shows me to sing what I feel how I feel. I love bands like Pierce the Veil and Massive Attack. Rihanna has much influence on me, I grew up in Kingston Jamaica where she was on the radio every day. Life's still my biggest teacher to this day.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would propel forward me in a way I’ve never been uplifted before. It would validate my gift to people who needed an extra push to support me and give me a chance to reach a newer larger audience. As a Jamaican American artist I know I could resonate with different kinds of music lovers in the crowd. This performance would look great on my resume and experience. I have experience as a performer and this would help me sharpen that skill as well.
What would you do with $50,000?
When I win the $50,000 my priorities would be to plan my first tour, further expanding my brand and its presence. My marketing budget will be increased and I’d be able to afford good PR. I would also complete my second album faster helping with continuity and consistency. Money is the number one factor in expansion and growth and that’s all I’d be focused on.
