Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My family is full of music teachers, choir directors, church organists and professional musicians. All of them influenced and inspired me, as music was a constant part of life in my home. When I fell in love with jazz, I was hugely influenced by artists such as Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington, as well as contemporaries like Holly Cole and Michael Buble.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Global Citizen is directly aligned with my values. I am very involved in mutual aid and climate activism. Reaching a large like-minded audience would help me not only share my music more widely but also to spread awareness of the issues currently facing our world. Influencing more people to become active in creating a healthier and more just world is one of my dreams.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would be able to do more performing at charitable and fundraising events without income worries. I would do more recording, and arrange an extensive tour with great musicians!
