Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Tyler, The Creator and Teezo Touchdown. I really admire how they both are unabashedly themselves, despite what all the haters and critics say. I also love how they both take risks with their sound and don't fit in a box. Both of their sounds are so unique and easy to recognize. I'm constantly striving to accept myself and trust that the musical decisions I make are my own, they don't have to be great but they have to be me.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Immensely. I recently quit my job as a barista to pursue music full-time and although it's given me more time than ever to follow my dream, it hasn't been easy on my savings. I've given myself until the end of this year to make it work before returning back to what is safe. I know that if I get the chance to perform at the Global Citizen Festival I can prove to myself that people believe in my music and in me. I know that I won't ever have to go back to making coffee again.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would put the prize money all right back into my music career and living costs. My current plan is to use around $5,000 for starting merchandise production, I already have all the designs and just need that capital to purchase inventory and cover shipping costs to get that running. $10,000 would be set aside for a possible tour around the world. Another $10,000 would be for producing 3-5 music videos. The rest would be budgeted accordingly so nothing goes to waste!
