Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration is my dad; he put a guitar in my hand when I was 8 and it's been a fight to get out of my hands since. He was honest when it came to criticism and helping me by not just being a parent who wants to say your great, but by being a parent and saying that's good but fix this... That really helped me become who I am today as a musician developing my work ethic. But when it comes to musical influences, I'd have to go with, Susan Tedeschi, John Mayer and Gary Clark jr.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would hopefully allow me to build connections and have it really launch my career for bigger audiences. Not just from playing, but by connecting with the audience through music. that's the most important part of playing in front of an audience to me. It's that connection between the artist, the audience, and the sound surrounding them. And to be able to have the chance of sharing my music and reaching that many people would be incredible. I'd hope that I leave the people there wanting more.
What would you do with $50,000?
I'd want to use this money to invest in recording and producing a professional album. And I'd want to take a percentage of this money and donate it back to my community and my high school where I grew up. I'd love to be able to give support and money to the music and arts department because those teachers were such big influences on me sticking with my dreams. So, I'd love to be able to give back to that community that gave to me and help provide opportunities for others who have dreams.
