Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Since I listen to everything, my musical inspirations are all over the place, but to name a few: KATSEYE, Ruby Ibarra, Queen, and Janet Jackson. They all inspire me with their stage presence, music production, and vision. I also use music to reconnect with my culture. I was never taught Tagalog as a kid, so I write lyrics in the language to teach it to myself as an adult. I want to bridge the gap between Filipino generations and never want to lose sight of my roots.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I'm always searching for opportunities to perform. Getting the chance to perform in front of one of the biggest stages ever would be life-changing! I've been meaning to reach a wider audience, and I know that there's at least one person out there who would really resonate with my music and follow my career. I also think there is room for more Filipino representation on the global stage!
What would you do with $50,000?
As an artist, I love to provide opportunities to young creatives like myself in a highly competitive industry. The $50k would help me reach out to the young creative community, to compensate them for working hard with me on production, visuals, and venue rentals for my own shows. It takes a village to make an artist, and I owe a lot of my success to everyone who makes my projects possible! I would also like to donate a portion to my winnings to a charity of my choice. Free Palestine! :)
