Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Life. I try to write the songs that tell all of our stories. It can be anything from struggling with love to being in love to having a hard time with myself and my mind. I touch on difficult subjects like sexual abuse and drug addiction. I love the connection of music, and giving people a voice and something to relate to so that they feel less alone is what drives me.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Being able to share with people and building a broader audience is important. I believe being able to be on a world stage would absolutely break me through to be able to pursue a career in music, which I'll always believe is my true calling.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would move to Nashville, invest in my sound and start traveling and performing live. Money like that would give me the career I can't afford right now. I would also upgrade my equipment and give away the old stuff to artists that can't afford it and try and pay it forward as much as possible.
