Who will perform at the Global Citizen Festival, appear in Rolling Stone, and take home $50,000?
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I am inspired by Mitch Mitchell's drumming and the way he used syncopation to match or echo Hendrix's guitar playing. Not an easy task to back up one of the most incredible guitarists of all time. I am drawn to artists or bands that break all the rules and create with honest and pure inception. I love what Coltrane and Miles were doing, I grew up on Heavy Metal and have a love for Electronic Lofi...put those all in a blender and that's the music I want to make.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This performance would bring light to this incredible and obscure instrument to raise interest in learning and/or listening to more music created with it. Though I am not a singer I think that instrumental music has a powerful impact on people and moves them in ways without needing lyrics to connect to. The handpan acts as the voice and is just as emotive without any words. Performing would help me reach a broader audience with a powerful message of peace, love and grooves.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would save this for my daughter's future, a budding creative! Ok, so maybe use a little chunk to take her to Disney first.
