Music has been in my blood for years and I know my music can be a big part of people’s lives.
Thank you for generously supporting Jimmie Chesh in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to empower Global Citizen in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty and create a world where everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I come from a huge family pedigree of music. My mom and grandparents sang in the Tabernacle Choir all their lives and that love for music has been in our blood for generations. My mom died of cancer in 2010. My biggest influences in the industry have been John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Mat Kearney and Jason Mraz. Playing in front of people who love my music is a dream. I love knowing my music impacts lives outside of my living room when I’m creating it.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would my first opportunity to extend beyond my own local community playing at small venues and restaurants and cafes. It would be life changing.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would first help my dad who’s been there for me for years through mom dying, my own divorce and getting through life as a single dad. And I would also be able to get out of debt and finally have the capital to fund my music career properly. I’d plan my next album, marketing campaigns, and proper equipment.
